Protecting Pembury’s future
Save Pembury is a resident-led campaign calling for essential infrastructure — roads, water, wastewater, schools and healthcare — to be delivered before further large-scale development.
- Repeated water supply failures
- Sewerage network at or near capacity
- Severe congestion at Woodsgate junction
- GPs, schools and hospital under pressure
- Multiple large housing allocations proposed
About Save Pembury
We support sustainable development — but only where infrastructure is demonstrably delivered first, not promised later.
Pembury is being asked to absorb significant housing growth without funded, deliverable solutions for traffic, water supply, wastewater treatment, healthcare or education.
Save Pembury exists to ensure that decision‑makers, inspectors and developers understand the real, cumulative impacts on the village and surrounding road network.
We are not opposed to development in principle. We are opposed to development that places unacceptable risk on residents by proceeding without infrastructure certainty.
Key infrastructure issues
Pembury has experienced repeated water supply failures. The sewerage network, much of it Victorian, operates close to dry‑weather limits and spills during heavy rainfall.
Woodsgate junction and Pembury Road already experience daily congestion. Further growth would increase delays, rat‑running and emergency response times.
GP surgeries, schools and Pembury Hospital operate at or near capacity, with no guaranteed expansion aligned to proposed housing delivery.
Reductions in bus services have increased car dependency, compounding congestion and accessibility problems.
